The owner of Ricky’s (i.e. NYs amazing one-stop shopping for professional hair color, cute rainboots, green nail polish, and vibrators in a rainbow of colors) is apparently selling his gorgeous Park Slope brownstone with a 3 story magneitc wall, heated floors, and more. I just saw this pic and recognized it - I walk by this place all the time on 8th street - you can’t help but see all the weird heads on the wall inside. I thought it was some kind of art space but I swear if I had known the owner of Ricky’s lived there I would have gotten crazy stalky dropping my resume off for the past 8 months. I always felt they needed a better graphic designer - some of the signs in their stores are (gasp) PIXELATED! Also, can you imagine the discount?
So all this time I thought the owner of Ricky’s just had to be some fabulous gay man who frequented the drag circuit, but no - just a straight father of 3 who recognizes a good bobby pin when he sees one and collects sneakers in his spare time. Sigh.

In all honesty, I think the home is a little whitewashed and masculine for my tastes. Too many hard edges and not enough warmth and color. Ricky’s is still the coolest store in the world and any 40 year old man who thinks to build a magnetic wall and collects sneakers is a winner in my book regardless.
