On any given day there are too many amazing fun things to do and I can’t fit it all in. Which one of my favorite bands should I go see and which can I afford to miss? Or should it be comedy? But what about that lecture and book signing? And don’t forget that party. Maybe I can fit that one in after the beach.
This is so rad! I’ve been wanting to check out Rockaway Beach. And it starts at Grand Army Plaza! I am so supernumberone there.
Oh my God.
32 oz. to-go margaritas from Turkey’s Nest and movies at McCarren Pool.
Hello, summer.
I’ve missed you.
You can officially sign me up for every single one of those movies. And a margarita with each pls. Although, getting a margarita in the door - plausible or no?
The Mohonk Mountain House, built in 1869. Scenes from Dirty Dancing were filmed here. 90 minutes from NYC. Definitely must go.
Someone told me today that I my hair reminds them of Kate Pierson (from the B-52’s). I’ve idolized her since about 1850 so it’s pretty much the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.
The same person then told me Kate Pierson has a 50’s inspired motel in the Catskill Mountains, so I immediately googled it, and well - at private mountain cabins starting at $175 per night, it looks like it’s time to hit the Catskills!

Cai Guo-Qiang exhibit at The Guggenheim - cool but not worth $18. They’re doing renovations on the wings that house the permanent exhibits, so his work has pretty much taken over the whole remaining portion of the museum. It was interesting, but I was out in under 30 minutes and a little bored after the first 10.

In addition to being the highest point in Brooklyn, the Green-Wood Cemetery (founded in 1838) was the model for Central Park and is home to the site of the first and largest battle of the Revolutionary War, the inventor of the telegraph and Morse code, the inventor of the sewing machine, Theodore Roosevelt’s parents, and the founder of The New York Times, among many other cool people and things (lest you forget the beautiful singing bright green parakeets that will follow you through the entrance).
Time Out New York just did a sweet peice on it featuring a mapped walk through Green-Wood Cemetery that you can follow to get the most out of your visit - even better is that it ends right at a Taqueria. Sweeping views of Manhattan and Brooklyn, historic graves, and tacos? Sign me up.
