A week ago I mentioned wanting to stop at Mystic Pizza on the way home from Cape Cod and Lydia (ala tumblr) re-blogged that it was a tourist trap and to try Pizzetta (located around the corner) instead. So we did and it was fantastic (thanks for the suggestion!)! Super thin and crunchy crust with a tiny little bit of melted parmesan baked into the top of the edges. Mmmmm!
Mystic on the other hand, although gorgeous like something only seen in a painting, is unfortunately filled with white 40-something suburbanite tourists and probably to be avoided short of a quick stop to photograph the picturesque seaport.

Home from the beach and Corona cans in hand just in time for sweet tent-living with the sunset and some roasted marshmallows over the campfire.

Some crazy locals picked us up off the side of the road in a kick-ass old 60s convertible and offered us a ride back to our campsite. Then they pulled over and surfed on their car down a big hill. So, yeah.

The sun didn’t come out the whole weekend, which meant the tourists left early & we had the beach 100% to ourselves. It was 72 degrees and amazing.

So Cape Cod. Yeah. It was amazing. Every bit as picturesque and incredible as I had hoped. I want to retire in a place like that. And by retire, I mean move there and buy a little fixer-upper and run a coffee shop or something in the next 10 years. Total 100% relaxi-taxi vaca. Pics to follow.

A slice of Connecticut

The real Mystic Pizza is still around and I was rallying for a pizza pit-stop on our Friday road trip, but the pies don’t really look my style. I like it paper-thin and with minimal toppings, as I think the flavor of the cheese, crust, and spices should be the main event of the pie.

Here it is:
